Rescue
Gemma's Story
One of the worst cases of cruelty which the inspectors had to deal with involved Gemma (pictured). Sadly Gemma's companion had starved to death before the R.S.P.C.A. was alerted to the case. The court was shown photographs of marks on the bedroom door where the dying dog had frantically pawed for release. The owners were banned for life from keeping any animals and jailed for 15 days. Gemma was nursed back to health at Longview and made a complete recovery. With her temperament seemingly unaffected by her ordeal she was successfully rehomed.

Rescued
Woofie & Purdie
Another two heart rending cases were Woofie and Purdie, two crossbreed bitches who were taken off their owner and both suffering terribly with an untreated skin infection. These little dogs were a pitiful sight with bleeding sores, bald patches and badly inflamed areas of the skin but soon became firm favourites with the dog walkers because of their friendly and out going nature. It took weeks before the dogs recovered sufficiently to be re-homed but both have now settled in to their new homes and made very affectionate pets. The owner was successfully prosecuted by the R.S.P.C.A.
