Princess Poppy arrived at Longview at the beginning of July after being abandoned by her previous owners. It’s clear that she has had a rather hectic life, and when she arrived with us, she was in need of a little TLC. She had a couple of mats in her fur and her nails were extremely overgrown, curling underneath her paws. Despite everything she had been through, Poppy arrived without a care in the world and has taken everything in her stride. She has settled into the centre incredibly well and has been an absolute sweetheart from day one.
Poppy is a lovely, laid-back girl who enjoys taking life at her own pace. She is a fantastic walker and loves nothing more than heading out for a leisurely stroll, having a good sniff and simply enjoying being out and about. And don’t let her age fool you! Poppy may be a senior lady, but she is still full of life and has plenty of energy when she wants to. She loves playing with toys when she is out with her handlers, and if she had her way, she would probably keep playing all day!
Poppy is now looking for a loving home where she can be the only dog. She can become a little overexcited when passing other dogs on her walks, so she would much prefer to have all the attention to herself and be treated like the little princess she truly is. Poppy could live with older, dog-savvy children, as she has a lovely, gentle nature. She can be a little hard of hearing, so if she occasionally ignores you, please don’t take it personally!
Experience with Akitas would be ideal, although it is not essential for anyone wishing to apply for her. After everything she has been through, she deserves nothing more than a warm, loving home where she can relax, be pampered and receive all the love and attention she has missed out on.
