A Day in the Life at Our Highfield Road Charity Shop

My name is Sharon, and I'd like to introduce myself; I am the manager of Longview's charity shop on Highfield Road, where no two days are ever quite the same! We never know what donations will arrive, who will come through the door or what unexpected treasure someone will discover on our shelves.
Our shop raises vital funds for the RSPCA Blackpool and North Lancashire Branch, helping us to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals at Longview Animal Centre. Whether someone donates a bag of clothes, buys a book or simply tells a friend about the shop, their support helps us continue caring for local animals in need.
Our stock changes every day, which is part of the fun of charity shopping. You might find:
Good-quality clothing, from everyday essentials to vintage and designer pieces
Books, children’s stories, DVDs and other entertainment
Homeware, kitchenware and decorative items
Pet accessories for the animals already enjoying life in loving homes
Seasonal decorations, gifts and special displays throughout the year
Our team carefully sorts and prepares every donation before it reaches the shop floor. We want our customers to find good-quality items at affordable prices, while helping donated goods find a new home rather than going to waste.
Managing the Highfield Road shop is something I am very proud of. I work alongside a wonderful team of volunteers, meet customers from across the local community and see just how generous people can be.
A typical day might involve sorting donations, creating new displays, helping someone put together an outfit or catching up with one of our regular customers - we have so many characters who love to come in for a natter. It can be busy and unpredictable, but it is always rewarding.
The best part is knowing that every day we are able to contribute to the care of animals at Longview. Our customers can pick up a bargain, support a local charity and help give an animal a better future, all in one visit - it's a win-win!
