Pepper’s Journey

Earlier this year, Pepper came to us via an RSPCA inspector after being found wandering alone in the woods during the middle of winter. As we closed her kennel door on her first night, she was confused and worried. Pepper, approximately 14 years old, a chihuahua cross, came to us with chronic skin issues, a mammary lump, loose teeth and blindness in one eye. She was in a bad way physically and mentally - she was going to need a lot of TLC.

On her second day, she started to come out of her shell, realising that she was safe, warm and being looked after properly. She met the ACAs who spent lots of time with her, and she met our vet. That first meeting wasn’t her favourite day, but ultimately, she knew she was being helped.

Over time, Pepper began to really settle in and show us her personality - Spicy Pepper! Despite her very small stature, she would always make her needs known! There was no way she would go outside for a walk in the rain!  She needed surgery, and was feeling very sorry for herself as she came round, but that didn’t stop her for long. She quickly bounced back, tapping her paws to come out of her kennel for a play. Her favourite thing to do was to sneak into the break room when the staff were having lunch in the hopes of catching a stray snack!  After six long months of staying with us, Pepper was finally ready to find her new family. One morning, as we opened our email inbox, it looked as though Pepper’s wish had finally come true. After a couple of meetings, it was very clearly a match made in heaven, and Pepper tottered off to her new home, ready for her happily ever after.
